Full Bloom at the Kinney Azalea Garden

Image
A few weeks ago we were lucky to experience a magical oasis of beauty in Kingston, Rhode  Island -the  Kinney Azalea Gardens . The gardens feature acres of colorful azaleas, rhododendrons, and other showy New England vegetation. While you don't need to be an arborist to appreciate the gardens, it was a treat to make the trip with one. We were joined by our friends Andy, Paige, and Steve. We enjoyed quizzing Andy throughout the walk and listening to him name every plant and its scientific latin name. We also had the pleasure of meeting the garden manager, Dr. Susan Gordon, who was one of Andy's professors at URI . Although we thought Andy's knowledge was impressive, Sue could even name all of the original locations from which the Azaleas and other plants came from. Her knowledge and passion was impressive and inspiring. The highlight of walk was through the moongate stone wall. It was a unique piece of architecture and made for some great photo
