Something for Everyone at Smugglers Notch

On the first week of March we made our way up to Smugglers' Notch Resort, in Jeffersonville, VT. This was our first time visiting Smuggs, and knowing it had been rated the #1 resort in the east by Ski Magazine had us feeling a sense of anticipation--and boy did it exceed expectations!


Before even strapping on the skis, what instantly stood out as unique from the other New England ski towns, was Smuggs being surrounded by a mini village of condos vs. a big hotel. Whether it was slopeside condos or larger premium condos set back in the woods, there was a nice variety of accommodations perfectly suited for families or groups. We stayed in one of Kestrels development condos. It was a huge unit equipped with a full kitchen, gas fireplaces, living room. and great views of the mountain.


The weather couldn't have been better for our 4 days of skiing. Blue skies and no wind, with moderate temperatures every day. To get to the lifts in the morning all we needed to do was call the free …

The Magic of Moose Meadow Lodge & Treehouse - Duxbury, VT

This past weekend we took our first travel adventure with our newborn, Hailey. There was no better place to enjoy this memory than the Moose Meadow Lodge & Treehouse located in Duxbruy, VT -
next to the landmark town of Waterbury.




The lodge's story began when owners Greg Trulson and Willie Docto met at a B&B in the mountains of West Virginia in 1992. From there, they visited many more B&Bs, and had the dream of opening one with their own personal touches. In 1998 that dream became a reality when they oppened the Moose Meadow Lodge.




Over the years they've added so many personal touches which make the property such a unique experience. The wood finishings are locally sourced from the forests, sinks carved from rocks on the property, and many of the furniture on the property is hand crafted by Greg. Even the maple syrup served at breakfast is sourced from the trees on the property. The common areas have the feel of a luxury cabin but with local charm. Every where you…

Our Greatest Adventure Yet

We have taken a short break from traveling to welcome our daughter Hailey into world. Hailey Lynn Pickering was born on November 15th at 7 lbs 7 oz and 19.3 inches.
