Summer Getaway to Kennebunkport, Maine- Yachtsman Hotel & Marina Club

Image
Kennebunkport, Maine is the perfect New England small town. With beautiful beaches, delicious eats, shops, and sweeping coastal views, it's one of our top picks for a New England weekend getaway. It's also less than a 2 hour drive from Boston. We made our way up Friday around noon and by 2pm we were enjoying a beautiful day by the ocean.

We stayed at the Yachtsman Hotel & Marina Club for the weekend. The bungalow rooms are all situated right on the Kennebunkport river channel that leads to the open ocean. From our room and patio we were able to enjoy great views of the water and boats passing by. All of the rooms are newly remodeled with high ceilings, shiplap walls, and boutique style furnishings and decor. Their main patio is a beautiful spot to enjoy a drink during happy hour or a morning cup of coffee.

The Yachtsman was also the perfect location for activities in Kennebunkport. Located just a short walk from both the waterfront and the main town area, we never had to …

Hot Air Balloon Festival with Stoweflake Resort & Spa - Stowe, Vermont

Image
This past weekend we headed up to Stowe, VT for one of the most unique events we’ve ever attended – the 32nd annual Stoweflake Hot Air Balloon Festival. The event is hosted by the Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa, on one of the large fiends on the property.

Over 25 balloons launch at once in front of a crowd of local and tourists over the Green Mountains. One of the most challenging aspects to hot air balloon flights is the weather. The winds need to be really light and the temperature mild to ensure safety and the perfect flight. Luckily we were blessed with the perfect conditions and were able to watch flights on both Saturday morning and evening. It was amazing how close you could get to the balloons taking off. The myriad of colors and designs made for a majestic site soaring over the town of Stowe. On top of the balloons there was a live band and local food, drink, kids activities and VT merchants adding to the atmosphere.

We also stayed at the Stoweflake, which of course wa…

Long Weekend Getaway to Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach

After a cold and rainy Spring and New England, a warm weather, long weekend getaway was exactly what we needed. Myrtle Beach proved to be the perfect spot. While Myrtle Beach has earned the moniker of "Golf Capital of the World," there's much more to experience.

Sea Watch Resort

During the four days we were there, we stayed at the Sea Watch Resort. The resort is located just 10 minutes north of the main strip, making it a very private and quiet location. Situated right on the beach, many of the guest rooms feature stunning views with private balconies. The resort also boasts 6 pools, 10 hot tubs, a tiki bar, and many other amenities you'd expect in a top-notch resort. Be sure to check out Captains Cove, the resort's on-site restaurant, for their delicious breakfast buffet.

Opening Night of Romeo & Juliet at the Boston Opera House

Image
Last Thursday we attended opening night of Boston Ballet's Romeo & Juliet at the Boston Opera House. It was a beautiful reenactment of the Shakespearean classic, demonstrating the power of love and it many forms.

The ballet was three acts with engaging performances, vibrant costumes and backdrops, captivating music and of course, talented dancers.  The feuding Montagues and Capulets was easily one of our favorite scenes. The renowned John Cranko choreographed each scene with acute attention to detail; each dance capturing the audience's full attention. Alongside Cranko was the very gifted Gavriel Heine who conducted the music of Sergei Prokofiev that adorned each performance and helped tell this emotional, romantic tragedy.

The Romeo & Juliet performance was 2 hours and 45 minutes with two intermission.  There are a total of 15 performances playing through April 8th with ticket prices starting at $35.

Be sure to get your ticket to this vibrant storytelling of Romeo &a…

FOUR Ski Areas in THREE Days with Ski Vermont

Image
This past weekend we made our way up to central/northern Vermont for one of our most epic trips of the year. We skied 4 ski areas in 3 days, met some amazing people, and drank some of the finest beers Vermont has to offer. And if that wasn't enough, winter storm Quinn was dumping snow the whole trip, making for some of the best skiing conditions of the year.

We partnered with Ski Vermont's Chloe Elliot, who planned the stops and and was an amazing guide, imparting us with all sorts of Vermont knowledge and culture throughout.

Sugarbush Resort

Our trip kicked off on Thursday night for a drink at Tracks Tavern in The Pitcher Inn, just a few miles from Sugarbush Resort. We met Win Smith, president/owner of Sugarbush and Candice White & John Bleh from the communications team. The team was really excited to share that that Sugarbush will be a part of the Ikon Pass for the 2018/2019 season. From chatting with Win it was great to hear how hands-on he is as an owner, skiing over 10…
