Ragged Mountain Ski Resort- Danbury, NH
Ragged Mountain is located in Danbury, NH which is less than a 2 hour drive from Boston.
This was one of our favorite places to ski this Winter due to its relatively
short drive, variety of terrain, and fast chair lifts.
Ragged
is home to New Hampshire’s only 6-person chair lift which moves the lift line
along at a great pace and ensures you never have to wait too long to get up
the mountain. The layout of the mountain is also really simple with two main lifts servicing the two peaks.
One
of the best features of Ragged was the variety of terrain. Both summits have
beginner/ intermediate hills from top to bottom for folks who enjoy an easy going trip down
the hill. However, Ragged also has a great selection of challenging glade trails, including a couple of double black diamonds, which we found to have
sections as challenging as some of the larger mountains in Vermont and Maine.
For
our favorite green circle trail, we’d recommend checking out Cardigan, as it
featured great panoramic views and a fun, windy track. Not Too Shabby was our
favorite black diamond trail, with a super steep drop to start in tight trees,
followed by a more easy going trail through the woods.
We’ll be sure to visit Ragged Mountain again once next winter rolls around!
