Our Greatest Adventure Yet

We have taken a short break from traveling to welcome our daughter Hailey into world. Hailey Lynn Pickering was born on November 15th at 7 lbs 7 oz and 19.3 inches.

Baby Beach is a great day-trip to make if you've rented a car in Aruba. It’s located on the southern tip of the island in San Nicolas.  Baby Beach gets its name from the tranquil cove of water that surrounds the beach being so calm that even young children are safe to swim in it. The drive down from the hotel area takes around 40 minutes. It’s a fun ride down stopping at the shops in Oranjestad or checking out one of the more local restaurants once you get south of the airport. Directions in Aruba are pretty easy to follow. There are only a few highway-type roads and because it’s a small island, you can usually find the water as a point of reference if you get off-route. Baby beach definitely has a unique look to it, as the rough ocean flows into a protected, horseshoe shaped cove where everyone swims around.  Because there are only a few hotels nearby, the beach has a local flair. 4th of July Weekend Getaway at Dan'l Webster Inn & Spa

While the 4th of July festivities ended on Sunday this year for many, we stretched the holiday into an extended weekend and headed down to the the Dan'l Webster Inn & Spa for a quick two day and one night getaway. Located in Sandwich MA, shortly over the bridge, it was less than an hour drive for us and it felt good watching traffic leaving the cape as we cruised along. The Dan'l Webster is steeped in a rich history dating back over 300 years and named after prominent Boston lawyer and Senator, Daniel Webster. We stayed in one of Suite rooms which featured a living area in addition to bedroom. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, while still maintaining that colonial charm.  One of our favorite parts of the stay was walking through the beautiful gardens and landscape to get to the pool. Powder Weekend at Sterling Ridge Resort

For snow lovers, it's been a tough winter in New England, but that trend took a big shift recently. Luck would fall in our favor as 30 inches of snow dumped in Northern Vermont in 3 days, and what better place to bask in the snowy glory than the  Sterling Ridge Resort .  Sterling Ridge is located in Jeffersonville, VT, which is around a 3.5 hour drive from Boston, and a little bit north of Stowe. It was one of the more unique properties we've stayed at, as it features private cabins and rooms inside larger cabins. For our stay we had a 2 bedroom cabin, complete with a living area, kitchen, wood stove, and deck overlooking the resort pond. It was the perfect culmination of an authentic Vermont experience. It's no surprise that one of the main winter attractions in the area is skiing. On our first day up north we hit the slopes of  Smugglers Notch Resort .
