Summer Weekend on Cape Cod

One of the best places in New England to be on a hot summer weekend is Cape Cod. We had a great excuse to get out there for a family wedding this past weekend and also made a vacation out of it.

The wedding itself was at Willowbend Country Club, which is a beautiful golf course and wedding venue located in Mashpee. We posted up at an AirBNB in Yarmouth, which was around 20 min from the venue. Yarmouth is located right on scenic Rt. 28, which features plenty of shops, restaurants, and activities.

One thing you'll see plenty of is mini golf courses. We checked out Wild Animal Lagoon mini golf. The course was in great condition and kids will love the animal figurines that line the holes.

Another activity we enjoyed was a trip to Sandwich Boardwalk. This features one of the cape's longest boardwalks over a salt marsh to a nice beach. We saw many crabs, birds, and small fish along the walk. If you're looking to grab a quick lunch with a place to eat outside afterwards, check out Cafe Riverview down the road.

While you're on the cape there's no better way to dine than a waterfront dinner. We decided to check out the Pelham House Resort in Dennis Port. It was situated with great water views of Nantucket Sound. We ate in the patio dining area, which had a number of gas fire places for extra comfort. We highly recommend trying their lobster mac and cheese. On your way home from dinner be sure to check out one of many ice cream shops on Rt. 28. We went to Cape Cod Creamery and it didn't disappoint!

To finish off our trip, on the way home we stopped at the West End in Hyannis for their Sunday Jazz Brunch. The restaurant has a unique rustic ambiance and the food and cocktails are top-notch. If you are heading back to the mainland from there be sure to check out Barnstable Brewery which is right on the way back towards the main highway and brewing a fantastic variety of beers.
