Powder Weekend at Sterling Ridge Resort

Image
For snow lovers, it's been a tough winter in New England, but that trend took a big shift recently. Luck would fall in our favor as 30 inches of snow dumped in Northern Vermont in 3 days, and what better place to bask in the snowy glory than the  Sterling Ridge Resort .  Sterling Ridge is located in Jeffersonville, VT, which is around a 3.5 hour drive from Boston, and a little bit north of Stowe. It was one of the more unique properties we've stayed at, as it features private cabins and rooms inside larger cabins. For our stay we had a 2 bedroom cabin, complete with a living area, kitchen, wood stove, and deck overlooking the resort pond. It was the perfect culmination of an authentic Vermont experience. It's no surprise that one of the main winter attractions in the area is skiing. On our first day up north we hit the slopes of  Smugglers Notch Resort . This was during the height of the snowstorm and it was a ski day to remember. During the morning I...

California North Coast & The Stanford Inn

Image
While the most iconic California road trip is the drive between San Francisco and LA, we had always been curious to explore the Pacific Coast Highway and beyond, north of San Francisco. Our cousin getting married in Napa Valley presented us with the perfect opportunity to extend a trip out to California, to do some exploring. Our trip up the coast was from San Francisco to the Stanford Inn in Mendocino. We cranked through the ride in about 6 hours total. This included enough time to stop off at a bunch of places to enjoy the the scenic views, take pictures, and soak in the surroundings. Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough time for extended hikes or stop off points. The fun begins with a ride over the Golden Gate Bridge. From there, you’ll want to hop onto the start of scenic highway 1 towards Stinson Beach. Once you reach the cost, the drive and the views are breathtaking.   Some of the most popular stopping points are the Point Reyes...

The Magic of Moose Meadow Lodge & Treehouse - Duxbury, VT

Image
This past weekend we took our first travel adventure with our newborn, Hailey. There was no better place to enjoy this memory than the Moose Meadow Lodge & Treehouse located in Duxbruy, VT - next to the landmark town of Waterbury. The lodge's story began when owners Greg Trulson and Willie Docto met at a B&B in the mountains of West Virginia in 1992. From there, they visited many more B&Bs, and had the dream of opening one with their own personal touches. In 1998 that dream became a reality when they oppened the Moose Meadow Lodge. Over the years they've added so many personal touches which make the property such a unique experience. The wood finishings are locally sourced from the forests, sinks carved from rocks on the property, and many of the furniture on the property is hand crafted by Greg. Even the maple syrup served at breakfast is sourced from the trees on the property. The common areas have the feel of a luxury cabin but with local c...
